Tarkmaneal Press was founded in 2024 by Matthew J. Sarkisian and Jesse S. Arlen with the goal of making bilingual editions of Classical Armenian texts with annotated English translations available to a wide audience. The name chosen for this endeavor is the Armenian word թարգմանեալ (t‘arkmaneal), the aorist participle form of the verb թարգմանեմ (t‘arkmanem), “I translate”.
